There is some strong evidence that
green tea included in you every day diet can reduce bladder, colon,
esophageal, pancreas, rectum, and stomach cancer up to 60%. An antioxidant
known as "epigallocatechin gallate" (EGCG for short) is at least 100 more
times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than
vitamin E at protecting cells from harmful influence.
The amazing thing about it that EGCG it not only inhibits the growth of
new cancer cells it also kills some of the existing cancer sells without
harming the healthy ones.
Lowers "bad" cholesterol (known as LDL) and improves the ratio of "good"
cholesterol (known as HDL). It explains why tea-drinkers can eat almost
twice the foods containing cholesterol as a those who don't drink green
tea, but still have an equal cholesterol count.
Green tea is rich in a group of chemicals known collectively as
catechism. These catechins have demonstrated anti-viral activity, inhibit
the enzyme Neuraminidase, act as Hem agglutinin Inhibitors and reduce the
production of TNF and other inflammatory compounds.
Green tea is the variety which keeps the original color of the tea leaves
without fermentation during processing. The enzymes in the leaves, which
cause discoloring and fermentation, are deactivated by several minutes of
steam heating. Because green tea looks and tastes nearer the original
condition of the plant, only good and tender leaves are generally used for
making green tea. Most flavored teas, such as jasmine, are made from the
green tea.
This prevents sharp increases of insulin in your blood (insulin
stimulates the transformation of fatty acids into fat molecules which are
stored as fat droplets). As the result fat is burned faster without being
"locked" in the fat sells. I want you to remember that even a small effect
can go a long way when you are dealing with your metabolism. For example,
just by drinking one cup of tea a day or by taking green tea extract in
the form of supplement you will burn about an extra 78 calories. This adds
up to over 28,000 calories in a year. Which is about 8 extra pounds of
weight.
It is quite certain that green tea is now holding promise in various
areas of weight loss. Drink a cup of your favorite green tea every day and
lose those extra pounds easier and faster.
How to Brew a Cup of Green Tea
Producing the perfect cup of green tea is a tricky process. If not handled
properly, those same polyphenols that provide health benefits can ruin the
flavor, making the tea taste "gassy." It's particularly important not to
over brew.
While it's best to follow the manufacturer's instructions for each variety
of green tea, here are some general instructions:
Use one tea bag, or 2 - 4 grams of tea,* per cup.
Fill a kettle with cold water and bring to a boil.
After unplugging the kettle, allow it to stand for up to 3 minutes.
Pour the heated water over the tea bag or tea, and allow it to steep for
up to 3 minutes. If using a tea bag, remove the bag.
Allow the tea to cool for three more minutes.
One to two teaspoons, depending on the variety of green tea you are
brewing.
